About EbikeCertification.com

Free ebike safety education for young riders.

Our Mission

EbikeCertification.com provides free, comprehensive ebike safety education for riders under 18 in California. Our goal is simple: every young rider on an ebike should understand the rules of the road, know how to handle hazards, and ride with confidence and responsibility.

The certification is entirely free. No ads, no upsells, no data monetization. Safety education should never be behind a paywall.

Why We Exist

Ebike adoption among teenagers is growing rapidly. Class 1, 2, and 3 ebikes can reach speeds of 20 to 28 mph, putting young riders in traffic situations they may not be prepared for. Many teens ride without understanding California's ebike laws, proper signaling, or how to navigate intersections safely.

Before this platform, there was no free, structured safety program designed specifically for young ebike riders. Existing resources were either paywalled, focused on adult cyclists, or lacked the depth needed for riders sharing the road with motor vehicles.

We built EbikeCertification.com to fill that gap -- a purpose-built course that is age-appropriate, thorough, and accessible to every rider regardless of their family's financial situation.

How It Works

The certification process is straightforward:

  1. Register -- Create a free account. Riders under 13 need verified parental consent.
  2. Learn -- Complete 5 interactive modules covering California ebike laws, road signs, hazards, right-of-way, and emergency procedures.
  3. Exam -- Pass a 40-question exam with a score of 80% or higher.
  4. Certify -- Receive your digital certificate with a unique QR code for instant verification.
  5. Ride Safe -- Pick up a free QR helmet sticker from a partner bike shop and ride with confidence.

For Officials and Partners

QR Verification: Every certified rider receives a unique QR code. Officers can scan the code with any smartphone camera to instantly confirm certification status. No app download or login is required.

Bike Shop Partnerships: Local bike shops can partner with us to distribute QR helmet stickers to certified riders. This gives young riders a visible, scannable proof of certification attached directly to their helmet. If your shop is interested in partnering, visit our contact page.

No Government Affiliation: EbikeCertification.com operates independently. We are not a government agency and do not issue government-recognized licenses. Our certification verifies that a rider has completed a rigorous safety education program.
