About EbikeCertification.com

Free Ebike safety education for young riders.

Our Mission

EbikeCertification.com provides free, comprehensive Ebike safety education for riders under 18 in California. Our goal is simple: every young rider on an Ebike should understand the rules of the road, know how to handle hazards, and ride with confidence and responsibility.

The certification is entirely free. No ads, no upsells, no data monetization. Safety education should never be behind a paywall.

Why We Exist

Ebike adoption among teenagers is growing rapidly. Class 1, 2, and 3 Ebikes can reach speeds of 20 to 28 mph, putting young riders in traffic situations they may not be prepared for. Many teens ride without understanding California's Ebike laws, proper signaling, or how to navigate intersections safely.

The free options that already existed were short, written for riders of every age, offered only in English, or ended with a certificate nobody could check. Paid courses charged up to $119.

We built EbikeCertification.com to fill that gap -- a purpose-built course that is age-appropriate, thorough, and accessible to every rider regardless of their family's financial situation.

How It Works

The certification process is straightforward:

  1. Register -- Create a free account. Riders under 13 need verified parental consent.
  2. Learn -- Complete 4 interactive modules covering California Ebike laws, road signs, hazards, right-of-way, and emergency procedures.
  3. Exam -- Pass a 40-question exam with a score of 80% or higher.
  4. Certify -- Receive your digital certificate with a unique QR code for instant verification.
  5. Ride Safe -- Show your certificate to a parent or school from the web, the PDF, Apple Wallet or Google Wallet, and keep riding safely.

For Schools and Partners

QR Verification: Every certified rider receives a unique QR code. Anyone who scans it with a phone camera sees whether the certificate is valid, along with the rider's first name, last initial and birth year. No app download or login is required.

Schools and Community Groups: Schools, districts and community groups that want young riders to complete Ebike safety training can point them to this free course and check certificates the same way. If you'd like to talk about using the course with your students, visit our contact page.

No Government Affiliation: EbikeCertification.com operates independently. We are not a government agency and do not issue government-recognized licenses. Our certification verifies that a rider has completed a rigorous safety education program.
